Dr. Shelly Montes provides connective tissue grafting to help you regain healthy gum tissue after periodontal disease, overaggressive brushing, or other factors have caused your gums to recede. We invite you to contact Montes Periodontics & Implant Dentistry at 770-781-3685 to schedule your consultation with our experienced periodontist and learn more about connective tissue grafting in Cumming, Georgia.
Connective tissue grating is a type of soft tissue graft in which a piece tissue is removed from a small flap in your mouth and sutured to an area where your gums have receded. This type of grafting procedure is usually recommended for large areas of root exposure.
Our periodontist will thoroughly clean the areas above and below your gum line at the grafting site. A local anesthetic will be provided to ensure that you remain comfortable throughout your procedure. The tissue graft is removed from one of the connective flaps in your mouth, and a small incision is made at the recipient site. Dr. Shelly Montes will carefully stitch the grafting tissue onto the recipient site and cover it with surgical material to protect the area while it heals. Over a period of a few weeks, the graft will integrate with your remaining original gum tissue to encourage new tissue growth and restore your gums.
We will provide you with detailed post-operative instructions following your connective tissue graft procedure. Please follow these instructions closely to encourage healing and prevent complications following your treatment.
